It’s not what happens to YOU

I feel a sense of Belief in ordinary people when it comes to what’s right and what is wrong in the world today. Most people are happy and content with their lives. Others are out to make a quick buck and don’t care about how they get it as long as it fills their pocket no matter who is hurt in the process. I believe that we all are going around and around like the way the earth revolves around the Sun. We relive our lives just like our fathers did and their fathers before them. The only difference is our rights as human beings are being reduced just like our value of money. My mistakes as a man are the same mistakes as my father and my fathers, father. It is easy to see that a system of government was setup to consistently rely on this merry-go-round effect, this pass it on mentality. As parents, we all want what’s best for our children but we tend to want what’s best for ourselves first. At least for me, I’d rather enjoy good company than spend an hour talking with my own boys.
My boys are a wonderful gift and I neglect their company. I’d rather watch the big game and ignore the fact that they sit beside me playing soldiers just wanting to be near me. what am I really doing? I am enslaving him to follow in my footsteps? To show him that this is what you do to your sons when you’re a Dad, just like my dad did to me and his dad did to him. I put too much emphasis on entertainment and amusement than the pursuit of activities that will help develop my kids into what I really want them to be, unlike me or my father.
Children learn by example, and tend to emulate the actions of their parents. Actions are the direct results of thought. We premeditate our actions and our actions are presented to all who can see. We all choose exactly what we want out of life and is past down to us by the actions we learned as kids or young adults. That’s why we tend to go into the family business or take on a trade that we admire from those who were influential to us, or if we were lucky, we were encouraged to go to college.
My examples were to enjoy your weekends by getting drunk as hell and seeking all the entertainment possible in a 2 day weekend and thank heaven for those 3 days off because then I can seek even more entertainment. All I really have done is to teach my boys how to party. I am the poster boy for how to enslave a citizen past, present, and future!
It is not too late for me and my kids. I have found an inner strength that I had no idea I had. Is the gift of consciousness. I decide what I can and can’t do. Just because I’m dared or pressured doesn’t mean I have to. I read in someone’s Facebook wall that they woke up happy for the first time and did not know why. He wasn’t upset like usual. I believe influences are the key component that takes us from inner control to outer control. I must block these Bad influences from controlling my actions. I must learn to react the way I want to react. Like Epictetus said, “It’s not what happens to YOU, but how YOU react to it that matters”.
I am not the type of person to share my thoughts and experiences to those I don’t know, but I am someone that has always has known that some way somehow I was going to positively change the world. And my hopes are that some way if I can change myself it can contribute into changing a small portion of this vast universe. Thank you for reading and if you know me, don’t hold it against me.
